More 'creation of a world'

Ok, heres some stuff...

The world

- Verragoth
- A selection of large and medium islands scaterred around the frozen sea
- The area is a mix of tundra regions and mountainous areas running down to moorish cliffs by the sea and pebbled beaches, all settlements of a substantial size are located around the edges of the island or deep within the mountains.
- The captial of the region is Th'Lan, run by the local Human government
- Other notable places are Nerroware, the last bastion of the Nurthren wildmen. The large dwarven hold Kjarin, and the Silver Elf city known as Thiraduil.
- Humans are the largest populus, taking a large section of the islands for themselves with the Silver Elves next to them in population growth, having abundant and thriving trade with the human settlements in exchange for protection from the human battalions. The dwarves are happy in their holds, deep within the mountains and never venture far from them, only on escort missions to sell their valuable finds in human and elven cities. The Nurthren wildmen however have very few settlements apart from Nerroware and are more nomadic than anything, using the regular ice flows to carry them and their small raiding parties from isand to island and making make-shift camps along the coast. They are a serious threat to the safety of the new inhabitants and so have been dealt with viciously by all, Elf and man alike.

Places of major interest/story markers

- Dragons Maw, a giant mountainous cavern that holds sway on the main island...it houses drakewyrms and other creatures of that sort and has been said to hold a great treasure for those willing enough to make the journey, and are brave enough.
- The Cove of Darmalesk, a small cove situated on the coast of the main island. It was the scene of a great battle many years ago and the carcasses of the many ship acting as tombs for the men who drowned are still littered around the area.
- Forest of Hallows, the Forest of Hallows is a large expanse of unnatural woodland that should not exist here in Verragoth. It is a forest of massive pine trees, and yet the snow never falls on its floors...something protects the woodland and underneath is the only green grass you will ever see this far north.

Characters so far...

- Ronan: Human
- Balastor: Dwarf
- Drago: Human
- Aramis: Silver Elf
- Gregor: Dwarf
- Dunthroe: Wildman
- Jarkos: Wildman
- Narrof: Dwarf

(Details to follow)

Ok, so thats my mass of informaiton for the moment...Now all I need to do is write more onto my world map and provide myself with a guide for the story (which you'll never see...well some of you migh) and create character bio's for the ones listed above, also picking a selection of them as main characters for the story.

My hit list..

Ok, so I've made a massive commitment to make my own world but theres a lot of things still that I need to do if I want to make sure I get things right for me...most of which have been suggested quite vermenantly by friends...

1) Buy a PS2 or PSP and get a God of War game.
2) Find somewhere that sells a good selection of Lord of the Rings merchandise.
3) Research more into the background and history of Middle Earth and re-read the novels so I get a better feel for it all.
4) Find a way to patch up my massive hole of information that has come from a story I've been reading, need to format all of that for my friends sake.

Oh fuck...now I've forgotten things thanks to Add (my brother) talking to me...crap.

Creation of a world...

Ok, so...the time has come for me now to go and make my own world to write a story in. Thanks to the way I've been reading and obsessing over a friends world and her take on things (some of which you can see here in short fictions based on her world) I've been wanting to plan my own world and step from the shadow of successful writers/games...

So, heres my hit list of exactly what I need...I think.

- World Map
- Names: Towns/Regions
- Creatures: What types/how/where
- Main character(s)
- Race: Regions of where the races come from
- Languages: Do I want to make my own or borrow?

Thats my list of things to do for now. I've got a few things sorted for now though...

The world will be called Athreal...however the area of the world where this story takes place, is far to the North called Verragoth...harsh and deadly. I also have the main city/capital of the region named Th'lan (The-Lan) and the regions races are spread between a selection of creatures adapted for the cold climate, and home to races such as the Nurthern wildmen, Silver Elves, Humans, and Dwarves...

Thats as far as my plannings gone...I have a great little scribble map which I'll translate to paint soon enough...yay!

Halo 2 Blastacular maps review

Being a complete Halo nut, these new maps were a massive “yes!” when it came to whether or not I was going to download them. So, I switched on my 360 around 10 o’clock and switched onto the download content section, nothing there. I was a little surprised, but then realised that I might have to wait, and after a few games of Big Team Battle Slayer I switched back over and bobs-your-uncle the map pack had appeared for the download.

So, after a day of custom games and a mass of fiddling around with the ins and outs of the levels themselves I thought it would be customary to bring my little bit of knowledge for you guys, and see whether or not the maps are worth that itty, bitty £2 price tag.

The first of the maps, named Desolation which is based on the old map Derelict has had a complete and utter face lift, but the basics have remained the same throughout. To start with, the map has the same basic shape, completely circular with symmetrical sides so both teams have the fairest go when playing through the maps with a group. The layout has also stayed the same, with the objective spots remaining in mostly the same areas, and the all important central area complete with glimmering Energy Sword.

The biggest changes have come in the way that you get around the map. There are still the passages going up and down from the second floor, but now in a break from Bungie tradition, and making light of their love of all things gravity-lifting, there is two colour coded grav-lifts shooting you up into your respective areas. Each of these lifts you high and dry out of the action, but, with the increased threat of danger and not being able to move. Unlucky bomb wielders and flag carriers could be meeting a very nasty end.

Graphically, the level looks amazing. The older and more beaten up Forerunner feel of the structure makes for some interesting atmosphere, and if you’ve read through any of the recent Bungie.net newsletters you’ll understand where the artwork was going when it came to mind. The level is even complete with streaks of blood, puddles of flood as well as human and even that eerie wailing that seems to come with all Forerunner structures you walk about in. It has the feel of level like Backwash and on Halo: Combat Evolved 343 Guilty Spark, and feels very compact to walk around it. This of course brings on the question of what lovely gametypes work best with the lovely level.

Slayer immediately sprung to mind when I first set up a few custom games with friends and tried them out, and they do work phenomenally well. The level is so packed in that you are immediately shoved into the action, and no-one is really out of the action for too long. Battle Rifle starts, for me, are out of the question and so the good old SMG was locked in as the starting weapon to start with and it works well.

There are plenty of weapons to compliment your SMG, with a couple of plasma rifles lying around, and the ever so beautiful needler available if it takes your fancy. Added to this, its really not long before you can get your hands on some more beefy weapons like the Brute shot, shotgun, dare I mention the Sentinel Beam, and of course the deadly energy sword. Added to that, to combat all of those is the brutal rocket launcher tucked underneath the main tower, and with that central position, just like the sword it’s going to be a meat-grinder to make it to it unscathed.

The next gametype that came up was rockets, and damn this was fun. The added level and the grav-lifts mean that you do a lot more jumping than normal, and constantly find yourself flinging your body around to avoid the rockets. It’s brutal, and fast and damn addictive. Really, any slayers on this level are prefect fodder for all lovers of custom games, as well as something more regimented from the locked gametypes.

The objective games however, are very different. Oddball is the best for a map of this size, and it’s guaranteed to be frantic. When playing through a few games of it we ended up with some rather hilarious moments as well as some cool ones, and if anything it was better than the slayer games, everyone yelling expletives through their headsets before cutting out with the explosion of plasma ringing in your ears.

Capture the Flag is a little less than useful on this map. It’s tough, and easy to take out the flag man on his escape due to the open nature of the level. But, it’s great if your team is willing to pick up the slack and guard your back. Assaults are slightly better, but the fact that the level is so small means that it’s incredibly hard to have a moment’s peace when planting the device, which is actually no bad thing.

Over all, if anything Desolation makes up for the things that Warlock lost out on when it was released with the last batch of maps. It’s a good looking, fast paced, deadly level and is guaranteed to make lovers of all things sword-like grin in pleasure as you dash around after screaming 12 year olds laughing manically.

Tombstone, the remake of Hang ‘em High is a much more open map. The level has been completely re-drawn for the newest edition, but has still retained its basic shape and feel. It still has the mass of walkways, the odd structures jutting out of the floor, and the infamous ‘gutter’ running through the middle. But, it’s all a lot better than it was.

The new aesthetic look of Tombstone has carried on from the Earth side of the Covenant invasion of New Mombassa. The background reveals the blasted skyline of the city, complete with plumes of smoke and soot, and the odd sound of explosions and metallic grindings that other urban maps have taken on. It looks, and feels like it could have been an extra from the Outskirts or Metropolis levels from the campaign, the derelict foundry a perfect place for a little bit of mayhem.

Again, the level has had its overhauls. The obvious one being the large access ramp that used to cause so many cries of anguish in the original version. This death trap has been revamped now with a nifty and somewhat covered vent that rockets you up those necessary few yards to the top. This means no longer will snipers get an easy shot at you dragging your flag back to base on your last Spartan legs.

As well as this, the level feels a lot more open. The mass of tombstones or pillars around the floor area have been significantly reduced, with mass areas of combat placed in between to allow for combat to go un-hindered. Of course, the cover still remains, but now its going to make it even harder for you to make your way across the lower levels.

Then there are the little details that make all the difference. Now, in the small area of the map where the walkways could be covered from a sheltered windowed area, there is now glass, lovely fragile glass. Added to this, the myriad of signs and little holes in the walls to climb through, and the industrial setting mean that it all feels a lot more interesting than the bland Covenant washed steel effect we got on Halo: Combat Evolved.

The same walkways though, have lived to tell the tale, and are still the quickest, even if the most open, ways to get around. They provide clear lines of sight to each of the ‘bases’ or summits on each colour coded tower as well as housing a few goodies along the way for you to get your grubby three clawed hands on.

These goodies come in the form of the good old energy sword perched high on a pedestal overlooking the entire map, again like Desolation and other maps (namely Terminal) this makes it a hard task to reach it without being peppered with bullets and plasma, but in the end in the hands of a skilled Spartan or Elite, it’ll be an invaluable tool for assaulting the bases.
As well as this, the walkways also play host to the sniper rifle, now located far out on the arm of a massive crane overlooking the centre of the map. Again, it’s a hard route up, but it’s worth it for the vantage point, and in the end the leap down from it back to solid ground and up the tunnels back to you base to cover from there.

As for other weapons, a host of more unseen weapons populate the maps now. Bruteshots are more a sure thing on the map, but most of the weapons are balanced out in accordance with getting the use of both duel-wieldable weapons and others like the Battle Rifle spot on. There are always the heavy duty weapons to fall back on though, like the impressive rocket launcher, now snugly hidden away in the ‘gutter’ below, lodged in a storm drain.

Speaking of the hideous thing, the gutter had now been lovingly re-worked for the sanity of all Halo players. The annoyance fell with the edge of the thing, and constantly getting stuck on it as you tried to get away from that blue guy with the needler shooting you in the rear. Now thankfully that has been dealt with, and complete with lovely splashy water, the gutter is re-born in fine Halo 2 status. It’s still though as always a complete death-trap, and will no-doubt as it was for me, a veritable minefield of grenades of both the common and brutish kind.

This is all well and good, but now you want to know more about what gametypes fit where with this level, right? Well, here is the rundown anyway, with a heavy emphasis on the joy, the sheer heart pounding love, of snipers.

Hang ‘em High was the ultimate long range and sniper love-fest. This map was born for that gametype, and still is now with the recreation of Tombstone. Not only does the mass of lower cover in the two corners add to the ‘help me’ factor, but the amazing amount of high points and nooks and crannies to get lost in makes this a sniper dream. It’s always fun to fire a round into a helpless looking Spartan and see him flee into the open before finishing him off. If you can manage to get your hands on it for Capture the Flag, it is invaluable, but for the communistic gametype, it’s all massive amounts of fun.

The second love of this level is anything objective based. Again, Capture the Flag is a diamond of a gametype on this level, with some amazing and awesome set-pieces set up with the amount of ways into and out of the bases. Assault follows in the same vein, and with the added lack of cover and the towers themselves, it’s again a heart pounding gametype to enjoy with teams of six or more. Territories, however unpopular also work very well and I still personally have a soft spot for it. Tombstone offers some great spots to make as your camps, and will also make you familiar with calling out areas of the map when you play with you clan on these in the coming weeks.

Both of these maps have become seriously good fun over the past few hours of playtime. Through a few offline and online matches against friends the entire Halo 2 experience has been revitalised further. They are seriously worth spending just a couple of pounds on, and if your looking for some sustenance before the Beta approaches in a month, and then something to fall back on after its gone, then these are the purchases for you. It might only be two maps, but its Halo 2 dudes!

I know what I'll look like at 50...

Well, roughly...thanks to doing the filming today and finding out that white hair spray and some eye-liner actually makes a difference. Also, the make-up was pretty snazzy...and to be honest, I looked quite cool...lol.

Anyway...now I'm extremely tired, and hoping to just relax and talk to people over MSN and just enjoy the rest of the evening. I've found an old book about Gaelic lore and the ways of a Bard, its very cool...but well, just a filler before I move onto Children of Hirn tommorrow hopefully.

But tralala...gonna wait and enjoy...yay.

*Drums fingers....*

Thought I'd write a small, tiny-weeny journal entry before I crash out for my early morning of film-making and acting. (see, I've been poked into thinking this is a journal now thanks to my girlfriend...I always thought it was a blog...but noooo...lol...only kidding...)

Right well, spent most of today hunting...well not so much hunting as browsing. Annoyingly the shop didnt have the book I wanted (Children of Hirn) and so I'll have to wait until Thursday before I buy the book...which is annoying because I wanted to send one of the books I buy off, and now that'll end up arriving much later than planned. Oh well...at least now I know I can do this, and it'll be a nice gift. :)

Also, finished in record time...my massive review of the new maps for Halo 2. Spent over two hours playing them to get a feel and now its all done and dusted. Hopefully should be put up tommorrow morning or something, but I wont be able to see it until the afternoon/evening because of filming. (dont I sound fancy...well not really, I get shot...yay!)

Also, started work on the next chapter of the Fable: Hero story and now moving onto some Balverine fun (would you believe that its coming up as ballerina on Word?).

Anyway...I think I'll wait up another hour or so...damn ominous 'brb' sign keeps flashing at me, plus theres an interesting show on religious occult...should be fun. Then I need to get up tommorrow at 6:15am and be all...rushed...

*sigh*...I need to relax...God damn it.

D&D...yay!

Finally finished the models from D&D...Dairn looks pretty neat I think, but really wasnt as challenging as I thought he'd be after I undercoated him. All he seems to be is beard and cape, and very little else. He does look cool though, and at last after ages and ages I have a proper model to represent him.

Auduin too has been done...and he looks a little more 'podgy' than I thought he would. That, and he's bald on the model but mehh...not too bad. He's looking also, a bit wierd as I painted on a massive purple cloak to him, and I would have liked to do white...but it looked shit and would have taken tonnes of coats to get it right. Still, with the way he looks...he looks pretty cool and well...I'll just do a little changing on his character sheet...maybe since his incarceration he could have had his head shaved? Humm...maybe.

Speaking of that and with others on D&D...I have no idea why he's been put up for murder, well I do...but I think I'll have to see what happens.

Anyway...I'll see if I can get some pictures of them both for here...just gotta get a better camera, lol.

Phonecall (short sci-fi) prt 1

Phonecall

Most nights in the town were grim, the undercity itself was filled with the exhaust fumes expelled from the massive buildings that stretched high above the heads of the mass that snaked its way through the thin streets. The sunlight itself never penetrated the mass of smoke and fumes that hung in the air, and the only illumination came from the street lights that burned furiously in the darkness, fighting it back with flickers of energy passing through the neon tubing. The street itself, the main one at the least, was lined with shops, most of the doors shut at this time at night, but with the odd one still open, people falling from the doors and stumbling in the street. It paid to have a small amount of money down here in the slums, mostly so you could drown yourself in the sweet taste of alchohol when it all went "too shit" as most inhabitants said to each other on a regular basis.

One man, garbed in a long brown trenchcoat stumbled against the wet wall. He looked at his hand which he had put up to steady himself and wiped it on his trousers grimacing as he did. He looked around and leaned against the wall, producing a small mobile phone from his pocket and holding in front of him, waving it around looking for signal. He found it and let out a sigh of relief before thumbing through his contacts, the small 'beep' of the click wheel echoing slightly in the alleyway. He found the name he wanted and clicked it once more, before holding it up to his ear and clearing his throat.

The phone rang for a few seconds before a woman answered "Hello?" Her voice seemed tired and weak, but still laced with the feeling that she was making the best of a bad situation.

"Its me" the man said, reaching up and scratching his bearded chin, he really did need a shave. "I wanted to see if you were alright"

The woman did not answer immediatly, but after an odd pause where the man could distinctly hear a sigh she replied "I told you I didnt need you to call me...I'll be fine"

"You know how I worry though" He said, glacing down the alleyway as a cat jumped onto a set of bins and sent a clang around him. "I havent spoken to you in a week hunny".

Again, the same pause echoed back at him. "I've been...busy" she said, and with all the things going through her mind it was impossible for her to hide the guilt in her voice.

"I'd gathered that" he said "I sort of realised you didnt want to talk when I didnt get a reply to what...my 25th email?" He couldnt help but feel slightly angry now, but tried to disguise it as best he could.

"I'm sorry" she said, seeming genuine "look...I'll be able to speak to you soon, just not now". She seemed to be distracted by something else as her voice drifted slightly towards the end of the sentence.

"Its not that" he said "Its just I dont get much time to speak to you what with my job, and you being up there in the city" He looked down at his hand and the small gold band around his finger. He lifted it to his face and looked at the small inscription patterened to the outside. 'Forever' it read.

"I have to go" she said. The phone clicked dead before the man even had a chance to respond.

He sighed and closed his eyes, whispering something incomprenhensible into the phones reciever. He stood up properly and clicked the phone shut, turning and kicking a small rolled up newspaper along the street floor before walking off into the fickering neon fog at the far end of the alley.

***

The man closed the door behind him and locked it with his pass card, the metallic beep fading into a crackling groan as he turned around 'shit' he said to himself, he would have to get the floor manager to fix that in the morning. He walked into his apartment and turned into the kitchen, throwing his trenchcoat off his shoulders and laying it down on a stool. He grabbed the cold metal handle of the fridge and yanked it open, all the was inside was a small pepper and a six-pack of beer. He swore again and closed it, the light and humming fading again as he did so. As he did he noticed something on the door of the fridge itself and pulled it from under the magnet. It was a picture of the woman he had phoned earlier, he had to hold it a bit away, without his glasses he couldnt see it right, but he still knew it was her.

He remembered the first time they had met, he had been on a trip to the senate on a story for the paper and had knocked her over completely by accident as he had rushed through the doors. He hadnt believed that kind of thing worked, after all it seemed the reserve of Hollywood films of old, but still, he couldnt deny the fact that it had been love at first sight. It had been, an odd relationship from then on in. He had always been seperated from her over long periods of time, and hardly got to see her...but when he had been able to spend time with her he had made sure it had been well worth the wait. At that thought, he checked the ring on his finger, that had been a good day.

He shook the thoughts from his mind and stuck the picture into his pocket. He turned and walked from the kicthen into his private room, and flopped down on the bed. He winced as he landed and felt something solid underneath his spine. He rolled over and felt under the covers, grabbing hold of the item and pulling it out. He felt confused all of a sudden, he looked down at the pistol in his hands and realised what this was. He quickly stood and ran to the chest of drawers against his wall, as he said 'open' the drawers slide open to reveal a pile of papers, a pile of small boxes and a vancant gun holster. He pulled it out and slipped the pistol inside, fastening the clip and chucking it back inside. 'Close'. He sighed, he didnt want to remember what he'd done last night and that find had somewhat revealed how bad he had been feeling.  He shoved his hand into his pocket and grasped the picture, he would be foolish to do anything like that.

He turned and walked to the bed again, rolling once more back onto its covers and looking over to his bedside table. He reached over and grabbed the phone stood up in its charger and typed in the numbers he had before. He held it to his ear and closed his eyes.

"Hi, this is"--static filled the phones ear piece--"if you want to leave a message, do so after errm...this beep!" A small beep followed and the dim silence of the message banks on her phone. He didnt really know what he wanted to say, and lay there, eyes closed. He made up his mind and pressed 'cancel' before pushing the numbers in once more. The same message repeated, he did it again and again listening to the voice recording, it seemed stupid to him but if this was all he could do, is she wouldnt answer then this would be his way. He carried on for an hour...before his arm felt heavy and fell to his side dropping the phone to the floor.

As it did, he drifted off to sleep, the same message repeating and repeating in his mind as he faded away.

***

Carl knocked on the door of his friend. It was midday and he hadnt been answering any of his calls. He sighed and hoped he hadnt done something stupid. Deciding to try his luck, he reached down and tired the door handle, and was surprised to see that it swung open easily, the metallic locks just humming and whirring in the air, no locks working at all. He stepped inside and walked into the apartment, the coat was there, and the lights were on. He walked to his friends private room and saw him lying flat on his back, asleep. He rushed to his side and saw the phone on the floor, he picked it up and checked the last number called, no surprises he thought...he hadnt expected it to be anyone else but her he was trying to contact. He reached down and shook his long time friends shoulder.

"Hey mate, you ok?"

The man stirred and opened his eyes "Did she answer?" He looked at the phone in Carl's hand.

"No dude, look...maybe you should leave her to call you?" He put it back on his charger and sat down on the bed "You dont deserve this kind of torture mate"

The man sat up and rubbed his eyes "maybe" he said, unconvinced "what time is it?"

....Prt 2 soon...

Wish...fix...

Dont you wish sometimes you could go off and live in a fantasy world? Get away from it all and just do what you always saw as exciting and such? Sometimes, I feel I was born in the wrong century...hell, I know I love all of this technological stuff but all of that ancient way of living is something that appeals to me as very much a great way of life. It might be harsh...and hard work, but its simple...Everything was always more, forwards...more subtle...more exciting...you actually were rewarded for being a scholar, a writer and it was a well...romantic vision fo a great time.

Saying that...I think most of this stems from a love or want to wanting to be in Middle Earth, lol...those Hobbit houses are brilliant places. But anyway...I digress.

Its a small thing, but to me...it means a hell of a lot. A while a go I was able to share with someone one of my prized possessions...and well, to cut a long story short..it came back...but now, I treasure it more than anything else I own. But, it broke...*sadness* and I've been trying to fix it for weeks...and finally I managed to do that today...finally I can wear it again! which is awesome!!!

Anyway...thats it...lol.

Memories (Short Fiction)

Memories

Philos sneaked his way down the passages of books that lined either side of him. He was not meant to be up this late, and if the teachers caught him, he would be forced to work in the kitchens and clean the pots, but, this was worth it. Garcus had dared him to do this and hell if he wasn’t going to take him up on it. After all, he didn’t want to look like an idiot in front of everyone. That, plus the book he was after was a very interesting one. They were studying the creatures in class and this could open up for him a whole word of interesting facts if he could get hold of it and examine its fading pages.

He reached the place he needed to be and set his candle down on the table nearby, lighting it with a short whisper of a spell and looking round. The shadows cast by the candle made it seem like there was much more going on around him than he knew, but after a moment to compose himself he was ok to continue. He reached up and grabbed hold of the book, the one gilded in gold with that deep, purple cover he had been shown. He tugged on it, and the massive volume collapsed out of the case and landed hard on his shoulder as he lost his grip and toppled backwards. He listened again, not a sound, he had been lucky.

He stood up and brushed the dust from his robes, before resting his back against the case and looking down at the book. He slid down the books and looked at the open page and the first entry into the journal on that specific page. The small drawings and scribbles made the book almost illegible but from what he could make out, it was all most interesting. Added to that…as he turned the page, he found a large chunk of writing which was written in a more expert hand.

He looked around, all was quiet…it couldn’t hurt to take a look he thought. He pulled his small golden glasses from his deep pockets and propped them on his nose, and looked down at the writing, guiding his eyes with his finger…and this, is what he read.

Journal entry of Augustine Inarus…Day 80

Nithpantiel warned me about these damn things. I’d not spent long with the lady, but she had taught me many things about what I should be expecting in the world of Silbara. I had not planned to travel there until my 21st birthday, when my brother would be able to accompany me with his companions. But, as the winter months closed in, Nithpantiel stressed the importance of the way we should enact the study of the creatures and too her credit she was right. The creatures when we arrived were indeed docile and easier to study, but it did come at a price.

When we discussed the plans over a late night in the libraries of the city she expressed to me just how important it was to get a better understanding of the creatures themselves. She had very little written about the creature’s habits and that was the purpose of this expedition. She regretted not being able to attend the rest of us on our way, but it was not too much of a problem. After our discussion and the plans laid out before us all that lay in front was the exact number of our group that would make it to the maps location. I, with my links with some more, adventurous, aspects of the community managed to gain the services of one stocky man named Brutii. He seemed more interested in the possibility of fighting the creatures, but needless to say he was an important ally in the days to come, after all, he managed to secure the camp site for us almost single handily when we made landfall yesterday.

Our next partner was a dark elf, we knew very little of him…and even now as he lies next to us in the large tent I feel an uncertainty wash over me. He is, a strange fellow but handy. He said he would track the creatures for us in the morning. I just hope that we will be able to get the drawings and notes that Nithpantiel needed for her book. I shall continue this when we reach the place where these Trolls, these odd animals are residing. It should only be 5 days walk.

Note: I need to find something for my son, I said I’d bring back a piece of that gemstone I’d seen in a book before I left…it shouldn’t be too hard to find, but I shall see…

Day 86…

The journal entry is a little late I’m afraid. Our…guide was a little loose in his tracking and refused to take us as far as he promised. Brutii was about to slice the poor elf’s head from his shoulders but I stayed his hand. Now, we are over the entry to the cave…the trolls haven’t appeared as yet, but Brutii is well, on edge. I now have with me my papers and pens for the ease of painting these creatures, but as of yet all we have seen is footprints and bloody corpses of animals slain by these creatures.

The dark elf, who is still yet to reveal his name to us, has decided to go hunting, and as I write this down he is coming back through the trees with a large wild boar over his shoulders. He does not seem strained or tired, and for all the mystery surrounding him I can see a dark loneliness within his eyes. I found the stone with which I wanted to offer to my son, and Brutii has offered to cut it for me and mount it upon a small beaded slither of silver to form a necklace for my son. I’d hope, if these journals are ever read by anyone then they will see that these barbarians are not as brutish as they have appeared to be. Brutii is indeed a wise man, and has always been a helpful hand, even if a little more of a warrior when he needs to be.

The gem is the deepest blue, and now as Brutii fashions it, waiting for these trolls he has made it most exquisite. It looks almost, if I may be as metaphorical as crafted air, and it feels just as light. Brutii explained that it could only be found in this part of the world, and so we were very lucky to find such a rare gem at this time.
I must finish now, there is a sound from the cave entrance and I should stop my writings for a moment.

Day 87…

These trolls Nithpantiel are amazing. Yesterday after I finished the entry we found one of the creatures as it dragged a large creature that even I have not heard of back into its cave. They are truly magnificent creatures, a stony grey with dim eyes and odd shaped heads, but indeed with a movement of what would be the Nwalko that I have seen in books and such. They do not have that, warrior precision of the tribal types, but they are indeed almost hulking in comparison. I have included a drawing with this entry into my journal, but I could not find a brush at the time, so have had to attach it as a separate sheet. I pray that it actually lasts the journey back, as it was a most interesting picture.

It did not ever seem to notice us as we watched the creature, and Brutii stayed his hand. Our dark elf companion was more on edge and left with a short whisper of what I assumed to be farewell before the day was over. We…did not care much, and in the most respectful way we hope that he does not return.

We are going to go into the caves tomorrow and see what we can see. The troll himself (for it was a male specimen we spied) was almost too docile on his own, and we need to observe the way in which they all interact as a group, or a tribe…I need to find a classification for these creatures it seems.

Note: Remember to send the gem back with the ships captain before you go. Don’t let the gem fall into the hands of the trolls in this darkness, especially considering its rarity.

Day 89…

The days have dragged, for what is now…a most unfortunate turn of events. We, I and Brutii have been more than tricked with what has happened down here. It turns out our dark elf companion has more malicious bones in his body, and sealed the damn cave entrance behind us as we were about to leave. We have been travelling for two days now, and we have encountered more than we bargained for. Brutii fought off three of the creatures, who it seems are more than capable to killing and fighting when faced with a man like him. He has, regrettably suffered a grievous wound to his shoulder and the bone it shattered, luckily however he is right handed and is still able, through strength and constitution that I haven’t seen before able to kill like any normal man from back home.

I am writing this now, with a dim candle and very little else. Brutii is, well more than annoyed and I should stop soon. This journal should survive…I hope, if anything the information I have compiled should be able to make some headway with your book Nithpantiel, and I hope that I can get one more entry…Brutii did not answer me when I asked it we could escape these tunnels.

The candles gotten darker…I shall stop for today.

Day 93…

It grows darker here now; all I have is the dim torch light to finish this last entry before I fear I shall have to run for my life. I have enclosed maybe five more drawings that I have done, rather hastily to finish my work and given it to Brutii to take out of these caves. I have hurt my arms very badly in a fall, and so cannot carry on as I would have liked to. I will take this opportunity however to write down some more information on the trolls and how they seem to behave…and you shall forgive my inaccuracies and possible mistakes as I write this.

The trolls it seems prefer to fight as a group, ganging up on an opponent with a hatred which seems to burn inside for humanoid creatures like us. They are horribly strong, with enough force to take out large groups of enemies in single strikes as we witnessed when a few of the creatures fought a small group of goblins that invaded one of their underground camps. Added to this, they seem to be able to see perfectly in the darkness and were only ever scared away when Brutii flashed his torch, which is now going out, in their faces. Even then, he still managed to kill two of the creatures. They are also very, protective of their young and have even gone so far as to beat their own kind when they get too close. I have found a small selection of what I presume is…well…carvings and given them to Brutii with the rest of my equipment so that he can take them back with this journal.

Brutii calls for me to either finish and hand over the book or leave it here, so I shall finish now with my writings. It is all I can finish now, but I hope that my exploration into these creatures will provide ample help for your creature compendium.

Since this is now my last entry…I fear that an ending is needed, and well all I should thank is my loving wife and my son…whom I hope will have received that necklace I made for him. Brutii harasses me once more…so I shall finish.

Philos looked on a few pages, all were blank with faint traces of blood on the bottom of the rough cover. He felt suddenly a little harrowed to have read such a last account of a man, and now for some reason it felt wrong to have inquired into this book without first consulting his family, or indeed even the librarian herself. He closed the book and quickly gathered his things, filing it back onto the shelf and making sure he made it look like no-one had taken it, or indeed moved it. He thought to himself, that despite the dare that his friend had lain on him, it would be better to leave it be and take their laughs, or even the words of a tutor if he was caught. He wished afterwards he hadn’t thought quite like that.

“So, sneaking around in the library in the dead of night? I presume it wasn’t anything to do with your studies Master Philos?” The low grave voice hummed over the stale air around him and made Philos double up in anxiety.

“Sorry master” he said and turned away, taking great care not to look at the book he had taken, he knew as he watched his masters face that he was searching for just that. “I’ll return to my quarters” he said, bowing his head.

His master stroked a long beard and smiled “Probably for the best Philos, make sure you get some rest otherwise tomorrow you wont be able to do your punishment for being out of bounds this late will you?” He laughed and turned, “Remember to put that book back properly…its upside down” He padded off down the avenue of books.

Philos turned and noticed he’d stuffed it back up their in such a hurry he hadn’t noticed which way up it was. He flushed bright red and turned it round quickly before hurrying after his master, he did a double take and grabbed his dim and now low candle from the table and again turned, hot on his master heels.

Well...damnation for that idea. Guess plan 'I love this year' is going to have to become plan 'I love next year' now, goes form bad to worse doesnt it...damnation and damnation some more.

But anyway....finished the D&D campaign for Easter, wont get to RP now till the summer...more 'awh crap' coming along there, yay. THAT, plus some freckin exams to do as well...great...isnt this all just peachy.

At least I now have a love for D&D now, the original cool RP...especially if we can mould it too Old World Warhammer as well. And two great charatcers too...even if one is a bit...well...murderous apparently, lol. (I should learn to write stuff down with Auduin)

Also...something you should all look at...

A great site with tonnes of music on it...great for filling those gaps in time when your sitting at the laptop and doing fuck all...which seems to be a lot of the time...

Anyway...I said everything was great, and now it aint as great...but still well, bearable...The writing I meant to do will take longer than I thought..but at an rate I might end up doing it tonight since I really am now....very bored at the time of 7:20pm...with nothing to do....*sigh*...well...best laid plans eh...I think I'll go eat some chocolate...

All is well...

Been a long time since I've written an entry into/onto this...and with good reason. Theres been...a lot of things to go through, and do with the time I have off now from University and I have found that using that time has become somewhat of a precious commodity...and there-in lies the dilema.

For one, I need too...or usually wirte a lot more for the website BXB when I can, but due to the way my days have been ending up I havent been able to do nearly as much news and such as I would have liked. This, wouldnt be such a bad thing, but it doesnt half let things go a little ashamed of myself when others do a lot more work than I have/should be doing.

But, I cant...or usuallly end up with a lot more things on my mind than that. Most of the holidays so far have been spent with my mates, which is time we dont usually get living apart...and the other half, making sure I'm here for my girlfriend, especially considering the nature of our relationship and how its all having to work out. The way we are means that we cant be there for each other at what could be concieved as normal hours...hell, the relationship itself is one that is built entirly on communication. This, in the most possitive way means that our relationship can and will be all the better when we do eventually get to spend some quality, personnal time together and well...the secrets and the sneaking can finally end...something that to this moment in time is a rather frustrating concept considering the amount of people I want to talk about things too. Thankfully, the people closest too me...know about all of just how odd it all is...but still, even they dont know the real truth behind some things I say...

Added to that, with the missing moderators from Fable-2.com...having a well earned and great sounding holiday of their own...I am now again on NinjaX double-time and slowly making my way through the stuff single-handedly. Thankfully, the kind and lovely people of the forum are great folk and its all great...

Today, at last...I was able to have a proper conversation, a chin-wag if you will with at least oh...two or three members of the community. Drakesramono, who is one of the top normal members on the site and a new-ish lad named phunbot are there for all kinds of conversations, and despite at times some oddity with it all...its refreshing, for once...to just be able to chat for a couple of hours. Added to that, our newest member...looking to make games in the future is a real credit to the site, and I also have his hotmail address, so I intend to make full use of my 'in' into the process of this guys dreams of becoming the next P.Mo (thanks to jack for making that lovely shortened name up for me).

But anyway, thanks to some lovely inspirtation you lucky people who care will be getting some nice things from me in the next few days...maybe a week or so. I have a short story, planned from some of my other stuff thanks to a budding writer that with her permission will be posted on here...that I think is going very well. Added to that I have also finished my next Fable: Hero chapter and thats ready for viewing when I can be arsed to c&p, lol...AND I have begun work on ToD again! (Do I hear the one person who ever commented on it going whoop?...no?...just the wind? ok...) so you'll see that soon too.

Also..in a final note before I go back to the buiness of making the second half of my time work...I am SOOO buying Guitar Heroes 2 on Saturday...lol...

TTFN beautiful people...
